Portman

This project is located within the proposed Portman Street precinct in Zetland, and is within a five-minute walk from Green Square Station. The use of brickwork and oversized masonry piers recall the former industrial buildings of the area and create a finely articulated yet robust façade.

The upper two storeys of the building are clad in dark, sliding metal screens, creating a striking contrast to the brickwork and reinforcing the industrial aesthetic. A generous communal open space and garden are provided on the roof.

The project accommodates 254 apartments within a ten storey building. The apartments are planned with narrow frontages to maximise the number of units with a north aspect. Recesses that extend deep into the building envelope provide façade articulation, as well as light and ventilation to the apartment interiors and lobbies.

Two landscaped through site links along the short and long axes of the site create a permeable public domain and entry sequence to the building.
