Mill Hill

This project is located in Bondi Junction, involving the retention and refurbishment of heritage façades of the Mill Hill Hotel and its expansion into four existing heritage listed terraces, relating to the form, scale, materials and pattern of the terraces and neighbouring buildings.

Above the line of the two storey podium is a recessed level to provide a distinction between the existing fabric and the new contemporary ten storey residential tower.

The design of the tower maintains a separation between old and new, with rounded corners and façade treatment that includes a juxtaposition of banded storeys, vertical panels and louvres. A communal garden terrace allows for sizable areas of planting, both to improve environmental outcomes, and to provide relief spaces for residential tenants.

It is a sensitive and appropriate approach to the significant heritage detail of the existing fabric while responding to the changing character of Oxford Street.
